The Bleakest Hour
The day wanes,
Morning started with a glee,
But now the brightest daybreak turns to dusk,
Ashes fall from the sky,
And the wind whispers a dying lullaby...
Tears running down your face,
A small pool beneath your feet,
You want to fall in,
Submerge in the sadness and despair,
Gasping for air,
Suffocating.
You want it to stop,
To breath again,
The headache, the tears, all you feel,
Just make it stop,
Yelling into the night sky,
And crashing down on your knees,
As you mutter under a choking breath..."Why?"
The world has come crashing down,
The walls you've built around you,
Crumbling like the hope you've held for so long,
And your head spins,
Your chest pounds,
And everything inside you feels twisted up,
At first you thought it was butterflies,
Happiness pent up at a nervous thought,
But instead it was your heart,
Bursting from all you felt,
As the world around you fell to pieces...
You begin to wonder,
To wish,
There was some way to erase these thoughts,
These emotions,
To be hollow,
Wanting some switchboard to turn off all you feel,
All you ever felt,
But in that fit of rage and sorrow,
You begin to look back,
Thinking about the good things in the past,
Long gone by now,
Never to be seen again,
"Was it worth it?"
Words play through your head,
Questions ring like thunder in a valley,
And finally you hear yourself mutter,
"Yes..."
As the tears flow out,
And the sky begins to cry with you...
Alone and cold,
Failing to see worth in yourself,
Sick and tired of being alone,
Tired of despair and depression,
Of tears and pain,
Raising your head to scream up to the heavens,
But no sound comes out,
All falls silent,
The only sound is the tear drops splashing upon the ground,
Loneliness jabs through like a frozen dagger,
Sending chills through your body,
Huddled on the ground,
To weak to move,
No more desire to live on,
Laying upon the cold, wet, black ground,
Bathing in your pool of tears,
Starring at the stars with watery eyes,
Wishing upon them like the millions of times before,
And forgetting what its like to smile, laugh and love,
Breathless,
Finally you close your eyes,
And fall asleep,
As the last tear rolls down your cheek,
And your last breath leaves with your final words,
"I love you"
