The Never Ending Poem -

I built a brick wall
on a large plot of land
with water on each side
but room to expand

I didn't know it then
but soon it would be
a place to retire
for my friends and me

What started so small
Just a brick here or there
Grew into a dungeon
So I would have my own lair

Inside these brick walls
I've grown ever so mad
Filled with pictures I remember
Of joy I once had

But blinded was I
From the reality of the life
that when I put in a window
I tossed out my wife

Then I created a room
With a chair for me to sit
darkened walls around me
And a decor that fit

I then made a door
Which led to a hall
Other rooms began appearing
No more was this just a wall

Around me grew patterns
And pictures of life
Warped passage ways of sorrow
And rooms born of strife

My headaches grew chambers
Where I locked myself away
It grew more into a castle
With each passing day

I put in a tower
To hide all my guilt
I ran out of rooms
So 9 more I then built

When the tower was up
I dug a deep moat
when and bought a dragon
that couldn't fly nor float

I kept the drawbridge up
to keep the minions away
but if you were wealthy
you were welcome to stay

I rented out rooms
with ornate claw foot tubs
we had lots of servants
to give you foot rubs

I put in a gangplank
talked of which witches to hang
the celebrations were wild
and the bells towers rang

I tunneled out a dungeon
To lock up my rage
And it still sits there
Waiting for release from it's cage

I then hired royalty
and with them came knights
one was doing the princess
in the dark of the night

When he got caught
he thought he'd gone to hell
cause the rats ate his fingers
when he was locked into a cell

Now in the great room
where the townfolk would retreat
When I sat upon my throne
peasants would wash my feet

There's no doubt I was mad
as I'd rant and rave for hours
dressed in only my underwear
I'd pace my castle towers

I called on a well-known shrink
and he brought along his team
after the examination
he said my case was extreme

I had a lot going on
my mind was altered into few
Let me introduce Tom and Hank
and then of course, there's you

As my madness spread
the kingdom was not amused
for now not only was I crazy
but also much confused

The friends in my head
needed a bigger place
So I created a larger castle
So I could hide my face

As I built this tomb of insanity
I hoped God would forgive my sins
I prayed he'd understand my quarry
and eventually let me in

Outside a garden arose
From the memories of our youth
The foliage was twisted around me
Warped images of my youth

Now I created this haven
on the outskirts of hell
where parties are held
for your final farewell

I created this tomb
where many shall lie
closed off from the world
where they suffer and die

This story can go on forever
It never needs to end
with each line is a new beginning
like a poet and a pen
