Desperately Seeking

             

A feeling hurt
Is not always repairable
A broken heart
Is almost unbearable

A lie that’s told
May be unforgivable
A Life of lies
Might well be unlivable

An assurance given
Can be taken away
Many can speak it
Its easy to betray

A promise made
Seams readily breakable
A familiar type of friendship
Is very easily fakeable

An emotion portrayed
Is not always what it seems
And what I had hoped for
Was  just the stuff of dreams

Be a caring person
You’re a doormat to be used
Give the doubt your benefit
You’re bound to be abused

Nice guys finish last
Or at least that’s what they say
Its hard to be a bastard
When you weren’t made that way

Honesty, love and loyalty
Are the hardest things to find
Lies, betrayal and loneliness
Is what I’ve been paid in kind

Is there anyone out there
Where just friendship would suffice
Not just taking, no agenda
Without exacting a price

Desperately seeking friendship donor
Loving and supportive able to forgive
A Heart with one careful owner
With, sadly, little left to give
