Every Time After

Sometimes I'm forced to go back
Stuck chasing ghosts and reminiscing
You took your time and I need it back
We're all grown up now, the world isn't as forgiving

If I remember correctly, it hurt
The first time I saw you and every time after
Though our walls were made from paper and our coffee from dirt
We built a home nonetheless and filled it with laughter

I used to know a man who loved a girl
He changed every day, like each tide is new
I once saw him in mirrors, you were once my world
And I wish that my mouth still tasted of you
