Like an Army in My Home
I watch those around me fall one by one
Like soldiers forced on to a battle
field
And as such, I never really know if
they are dead or simply injured
All I want is to know how they are
If they are alive or dead or somewhere
in between
And then I have the deserters
No matter how hard I beg for them to
stay
They turn their backs and leave anyway
So here I kneel
Before a battlefield made of family
Friends
Salvation on the other side
If only I could just walk through it
and accept their fates
Accept that I will join them one day
But no, I run through it blindly
One day I will return here
Not of my own accord
But forced
Then I will be forced to see
To accept
Like soldiers forced on to a battle
field
And as such, I never really know if
they are dead or simply injured
All I want is to know how they are
If they are alive or dead or somewhere
in between
And then I have the deserters
No matter how hard I beg for them to
stay
They turn their backs and leave anyway
So here I kneel
Before a battlefield made of family
Friends
Salvation on the other side
If only I could just walk through it
and accept their fates
Accept that I will join them one day
But no, I run through it blindly
One day I will return here
Not of my own accord
But forced
Then I will be forced to see
To accept
