Light and Dark

I saw the good in her.
Sweet, gentle, kind,
Playful.

But something was not right.
A half-smile that said,
"If he only knew."

The inconsistencies grew,
And a shadow fell.
Her shine...tarnished.

And she grew darker and blacker
in my mind.
No way for her to bring back the light.

So there she remains, bound in darkness.
