The pony that dreamed of being a stallion:

The pony that dreamed of being a stallion:

There was a wild and free mare
She was a horse unto her own
And she made paths her way
She would join the heard
Once in a blue moon
But she preferred to be on her own
Since the day of her escape
She was once captured
Mated to hung thoroughbreds
She understood the race must be won
But it was not what she wanted for her blood
She traveled and ran
She loved her wide open land
She wondered what that ocean was for
It was like a fence that kept the wild ones happy
It kept the tame ones out

She came upon a cute little pony
Exotic little thing
Young and so spirited
Almost reminded her of herself
Back in her early 20’s
She offered to help him out of his pin
A job like this would take some help
From the strong stallions
She went to them
They were pissed
She offered to let a pony in the herd
But it was her
To mount this wild mare it was worth
The price she asked was fare
The pony would be devoured
In the wild lands without the right friends
Or the stamp burned into his skin
The meat market would have him

She went back often to reassure him
She would protect him
But this pony would buck and kick her
Acting wild like a stallion it was cute at first
Until he kept kicking her acting like the thoroughbreds she left
She knew he would never fit in with the stallions
Stallions, stallions, she spent her whole life with
She asked him to settle down
He would tell her he is just like this
Like the wild horses she sometimes runs with
Unaware of what she did for him
Not knowing she saved his life
None of the stallions would have tolerated him
She learned about their plan
He is safe where he is

Stallions are always going to be stallions
Some make noises but they all take physical action
There is a reason ponies are ponies
Some can make good friends
But on the other side of the ocean
The wild mare understands now it was a good lesson
You’re either born a wild no matter what color white, brown, red, black or spotted
Wild is in the blood
And the ones with this wild in them
Belong here where they are born
On this side of the ocean
The wild mare sadly walks away
She tried she tried the exotic pony
He will never understand
The unspoken laws of this land
