The sun lies beyond the clouds

To sup of such sweet nectar
Dilutes the venom instilled within
Bringing a new palpitating rhythm
To this body’s beating engine

Walking naked circles in the intersection
The point where these two paths meet
Both heavily laden with footsteps and trampled
Yet course stone brings callous to bare feet

Let us beat down a new path
Through the overgrowth of mystery
And wander through the thickened foliage
To the light which pierces through the shade of canopies

Defrost the ice left from past years
Shed your defenses
Open your eyes
And wipe your tears

Though the future nights promise inevitable cold
Inescapable loneliness and pain
The fire inside remains hot
And burns with a playful flame

This magnetic attraction relaxes the tension
No longer grinding teeth
White knuckles alleviated by cool blue innocence
Again the spread of wings

I foresee the birdsong sang on Un-deaf ears
As the stars shine in the rediscovered depths of space
Feel the touch of desire
And ponder the lines in my hands embrace

We can watch the flora from previous seasons wither with pride
Welcoming the new
One with nature the seasons change
And in the untraveled wilderness people do too

From caterpillar to moth
Progression is forever undone
Evolution is change for the better
So what will we become?

What will tomorrow bring for us?
I shed these nights like a tree and its leaves
A temporarily barren skeletal mystery
Awaiting to be renewed in the spring

When it seems that darkness is the only thing around
Remember, the sun lies just beyond the clouds
