Morningstar: Hammer Fall

Watching eyes in shadowy corners
Seeking ways to usurp those
In higher station
Whispering tongues sing treacherous tunes
Into gullible ears
To ensure the knife
Plunges straight and true

Bodies fall like rain, upon the streets the slain
Bleed like rivers onto celestial courts
Haggard angel wings, as they sadly sing
Wither like roses in cursed drought

Weapons, they clash as warriors so rash
Fly into holy battle, glorified
For blood and God, angels so flawed
Trample over those who have died

Angels rise,
One and all!
The holy lords
Against the wall
In the skies
Battle calls
Smashing death
The hammers fall

As the holy host drifts like a ghost
Numb and immune to the dying throes
White columns stained red with the rotting dead
Madness eats away at his divine self

Treachery
One and all!
The holy lords
Against the wall
On the block
Judgment calls
Smashing death
The hammers fall

Form the ranks
One last time
With sword and shield
To break the lines
In Heaven
Behind eyes
Slashing death
The wailing cries

With the heads of the fallen dead
Who will stand to take the Lord’s mantle
Betrayal to the last, set upon the lash
Brings a holy kingdom to dismantle

An insane god, tattered and flawed
Standing numb as his children falter
Looking about, into the mouth
Of madness on this field of slaughter

Angels fall,
One and all!
The holy lords
Against the wall
In the skies
Battle calls
Smashing death
The hammers fall
