Stitched Heart

Inside my heart, I shall bury him
Friendship more dear to me than others
Stitching the chambers with memories
Love turned grief dulls his needle, feeling each suture twinge
Love shared remains, encapsulating memories within the muscle
Forced to bleed them out, each stitch more excruciating than the other
Aching pains of an old school lesson, no analgesic can relieve
Life circles people in, navigates each to create friendships
I never anticipated stitches, a permanent scar to be given
Trust becomes broken, with forgiveness to follow, he placed 2 stitches
Acceptance of each self-became indescribable, 2 more stitches put
Everlasting connection, unique to itself, adjoin 4 more stitches
Unbroken bonds which will remain solid memories, 3 stitches added
Friends create a kinship, closer than a sibling, now broken, damn, 5 extra there
Understanding with only a glance, we became ourselves
Intimate moments, now fading to bury
My heart was exposed forcibly by him, he pursued strongly
With a clandestine suture kit in pocket
Love, pain, betrayal, happiness, ending with regret
The TOOL needed to mend, does not exist
He manipulates his hook to suture tighter, firmer with precise pulls
Appreciation to the other, disregarded
I will withstand the saddened depths of my soul, suitably proud
I possess substance, hold knowledge of the value of my friendship
The other not capable, his theories veritable to him
My decision, an irrevocable one, result in his loss
Time vanishes, wasting becomes an utter shame
My heart holds sutures now, he skillfully set
Him, being the only one allowed intimately to be significant
I unsealed his suture kit, not prepared to have them applied on me
16 stitches tallied, seal two chambers
Assigning two of the four unsealed for another
He placed his tools on the cloth, “no more” I muttered holding his hand
Inside my heart is our love and friendship, memories he laboriously stitched in
A broken heart, it is not, a scar of love remains
Silk knots pinch sporadically, pressing tears to stream down
My tongue slides to savor the tear, initiating a smile of sorrow
