shattery realms

Sometimes I see you
in dreams not so glum
in an ethereal disguise
while I'm in pursuit
you only gain momentum.

So goddamn idiotic as I
squander my time away
in pursuit of a memory
that still haunts me
to this very day.

The joy was like morning fog
to my senses.
And not unlike fallen frost
in spring's name.
It felt brisk, made me blind,
but was something beautiful
to behold
at least for me then.

It actually hurt after I realized
that we were through.
I felt things I thought I'd never feel
again
and acted like someone who
I thought I'd never be.

Our realm was shattered,
yet nothing mattered while under love's spell
once upon a time.
well, until truth quelled our curiosity
leaving us free to walk amongst
the fragments and ruins of a possibility
that was thwarted before it could thrive.

These passing days and nights
bury what had happened in a mass grave
of forlorn time and deceased emotions.

And yet I
keep dreaming of the chase.
