Saying Goodbye
This hurts me more
Than you'll ever know,
But I have to say it now.
Those words we both
Have dreaded to say.
I fought with myself
Time and again,
Struggling to move forward
While still clinging
So tightly to the past.
But I can't forgive
Nor can I forget
All that you've done
And the hurt is just
Too raw and too real.
As much as I want to,
I can't put this
Behind me, though
I want to so badly
So we can be together.
But we don't work
in a healthy way.
You'll just keep lying
And I will just keep
Making excuses to stay.
So this is it,
The big good bye
That we have been
Dreading for all
So very long.
Because I can't do
This any longer.
You will always have
That part of my heart,
But I can no longer pretend.
Than you'll ever know,
But I have to say it now.
Those words we both
Have dreaded to say.
I fought with myself
Time and again,
Struggling to move forward
While still clinging
So tightly to the past.
But I can't forgive
Nor can I forget
All that you've done
And the hurt is just
Too raw and too real.
As much as I want to,
I can't put this
Behind me, though
I want to so badly
So we can be together.
But we don't work
in a healthy way.
You'll just keep lying
And I will just keep
Making excuses to stay.
So this is it,
The big good bye
That we have been
Dreading for all
So very long.
Because I can't do
This any longer.
You will always have
That part of my heart,
But I can no longer pretend.
