Unlike the wife's letter the lines here suggest a reasoned and balanced argument ... He's hoping he can reason with her and that she'll see the "folly" of her decision ...

You are an excellent reader of the illegible, Lobo. Yes, these two letters are about love expressed in two very different ways. One is more dominated by reason and rationality whilst the other is expressed in emotional ad 'irrational' language. The wife tries to understand rational love at the same time 'seducing' her estrange husband to allow him to understand her own language of love.
