Things are getting scary now
it's time to say goodbye
will you come, and hold me in

will this be our last time?

you say that you will come to me
and, like a caged bird I must fly
you whisper in my ear
this isn't really a goodbye

I respect you more
that you care enough to let me go
I'de clip my wings and stay
if you asked
but you don't

and now each kiss
fades like sunrise into day

I feel as though I'm jumping leaping
diving into the abyss
with an adventurer's joy
and a pirates bliss

but promise you will come to me
and not leave me here alone
promise that this goodbye doesn't mean
you'll let me go

I'll face leaving like a soldier
with a soldiers courageous smile

I want to be sheltered by your arms
and held in your embrace
and yet loving me means
that you couldn't make me stay
