The Season of War (Part II "The Journey")

Season of War
(Part II “The Journey”)

The voice was misplaced
A human’s voice in a demons body
Only added to my terror
Spreading  its wings wide
An incantation sprang from its maw and
The world closed in on me
Snatching me up it threw into its waiting jaws
I was not alone
A clutch of glowing orbs waited inside
Wallowing in the stench of its mouthy secretions
The serpentine usher showed me to my seat
Up it leapt and hovered
The very ground opened to swallow us whole
With a rush of wind, we were gone
Into the all encompassing darkness we were carried
Horrid screams emanated from the depths of this abyss
Some human, some not
The stench of rotting and burning flesh
Permeated every screaming mouth there
As the intensity of our screams increased
I saw the demon smile devilishly,
Taking pleasure in our suffering
My mind raced with constructed beings of horror waiting for me
I struggled to silence my minds ramblings of the things they would do
But it had gone insane in the moment and
All I could do was scream
Fire erupted from the demons nostrils and
The darkness was illuminated for an instant
A bequest not welcome to its benefactors
Hoards of demons,
All ravenous and blood soaked
Writhed over one another
Ripping flesh from human bodies
Their prey still alive screamed in agony and terror
Helpless to stop the unholy beast attacks
Starving and lusting for fresh meat
A frenzied rush sprang throughout the chasm
As the beasts raced to quench their unholy appetites
Bathing in gushing crimson sheets of blood from their feast
They trundled on the cadavers with delight
It stained and permeated the brimstone and fire around them
As we sailed overhead
We were seen and they shrieked in pleasure
Of the banquet yet to come
Ghastly, soul gouging human howls
Pleading for mercy
In a merciless place
From the screaming occupants served up for their sins
Breaks through the brutal, surreal scene
It was deafening and
Could be heard
Above the rapture of the beasts pleasured moans
It sliced threw me with one torrid blow
I cover my ears but to no avail
I cannot keep them out
The sweet serenity of unconsciousness eludes us all and
We must suffer this as it is only the beginning of our condemnation
We are still screaming as we reappear in a vast cavernous dwelling
The place smells of rotting flesh and death
Arches of white marble walls
Dappled with golden gates
Rise from the ground and vanish into the ceilings miles above
Enormous flying fireflies illuminate the ceiling
With an eerie fluorescent glow
Numerous, gigantic, white marbled angels, wearing golden armor, muscles bulging
Strain to hold the walls erect
From some, unseen force
Trying to topple them down
Broken pieces of weapons lie about
Amongst the bones and amputated flesh
Torches light the cavern as we enter and
Our host spits us out disgusted with our taste
Without a second look it quickly turns and disappears
To bring another ill-fated group of predestined inmates, no doubt
Reanimated, born into an unholy place
Quivering, drenched with demon saliva
We are surrounded by other souls
Pieces of flesh dapple their faces and bodies
Zombies dressed in old garbs from different eras gone by stand silent
Watching us as though we are the freaks in this madhouse
Sickened by it all we heave the living essence from our phantom bodies and
The orgy begins
They fight one another for this glorious gift
We have bestowed on them
They lap it up with the fervor of a starving man at his first meal
We are all aghast and frightened by this
We cower at their feet waiting to be torn piece by piece and
Consumed by this undead hoard but
Before our eyes they turn human once again and are able to speak
You are at the gates of hell in the Dead’s World
The leader denotes
To protect the Living World
Your futures are set here
You must obey and fight to complete your judgment
You will battle or be condemned to the other side
The one you glimpsed when you entered here
True Hell!
All body functions cease to exist
You are dead
Save for replenishing the divine essence of life
Which you will consume during the arrival of replacements and
As the watch keepers see fit to bestow upon us
It said and pointed towards the fireflies
We wept as children
With no shame of being adults
For we were children here
With new slates to be filled
With rules and boundaries
Courage and hope
Condemned to fight both the demons
Trying to invade the living world and
The fear threatening to condemn us
To a more horrid existence
