tonight i looked at you as you slept so soundly,
your handsome face chiseled with beauty beyond compare.
tears started to flow as i thought to myself
what would i do when you finally closed your eyes
when you sleep to never wake up
when you breathe your last

i remembered the days when we stayed up talking
then the days when we slept with bitter words.
my heart bled as i thought to myself
what would i do when you give me your last kiss
when you smile to never smile again
when you tell me goodbye

i questioned how much i loved you tonight
as i thought of how life would be without you
my soul cried with sadness as i thought to myself
what would i do when your heart stopped beating
when they tell me you are no more
when i realize i shall never see you again!
