Listen son, listen deep

Listen son, Listen deep
The price of young fun isn't cheap
And though I pray the Lord your soul he'll keep
For the company you keep, you stay ready to leap
Into a heap of hell
Just to cheat yourself
Out of blessings you could have
In exchange for a laugh
Or any form of flattery
To recharge your battery
Like the energizer bunny you keep going and going
You've become a hazard to yourself without even knowing
Immaturity showing with no signs of you growing
Stuck in the school halls strolling while the wind of change is blowing
And while you're blowing your chance to change, your future is being sealed
With brick and steel
In a world of seclusion
Where every clock's tick you can feel
Then is it real? This is not a Main Menu
On a PlayStation disk to pause and continue
Or start game over
Death is not a change over
Its the last dollar lost; the buzzer that kills the clock
The weighing of every thrill sought
Every tear shed and every tear caused
Every wasted minute and every year lost
What coulda, shoulda and woulda: can be and should be
If you only understood how good life would be
If you just but liberate your mind and stood free
Then maybe you'd see your worth and do your best
Instead of imitating other failures that are doing less
Take hold of the news as its been told
A good name is better than gold
Success is the best revenge
On those less than friends
Who seek to make you cringe or send you off to your end
Make amends before its too late to win
Don't relate to sin by moving too fast
Save your wind
Life can be heaven if you're happy with what you do
So speak of good things and do of what you speak
But first listen son, listen deep
