HellSpecies (Prologue)
It begins with the sound of a howl. A long, echoing howl that reverberates across the pitch blackness of the nighttime sky. Legs that carry neither a sharp-eyed dog nor a sharp-eyed, sharp-hearing dog. Legs that carry something far larger and far more dangerous.
Below the dark sky, the forest stirs in its sleep. The furry creatures that snuffle and waddle and root around during the day now doze uneasily in their holes and nests and burrows. They are far too smart to go out at night. Fearfully, they try to rest, waiting for the far-off morning.
Tonight there is blood on the wind, and there is death in the air.
But there is always one creature that is not so wise. One creature that never seems to smell the blood or see the warning signs that are so clear to the others. There is always some human prey.
The animals of the forests are wise. They will survive this night. But for some foolish human, this will be a final night of life upon this earth.
It will begin with the sound of a howl, echoing in the midnight air. It will end with sharp fangs driven deep into the jugular vein. It begins with the howl and ends with blood.
