Chalice
You can drink from the chalice
But only if you are willing to cut yourself on its chipped edges
The contents are heady brew
Something to tantalize every inch of the palette
To make your mind swim in vague impossibilities
Like a single grain of sand dancing in the rushing torrent of the river
A bittersweet spice mingling with the salty blood that seeps from your torn lips
Something to smooth yet still define the pain
To show you the harsh realities that come with a beating heart
To comfort you with an intense desire that only the hopeless can provide
You can drink from the chalice only if you are willing to be changed.
