Feeling Free
I didn’t know where I was going
I didn’t know where I was
I didn’t even know who I was now
I just left it all behind
A new me, a new place, a new time
It seemed so futuristic yet presently
Like a long lost friend, a fresh breath
I felt redemption
Like a caged bird trapped by a mean owner
Whom would torment its animal
To say what it wants it to say
To make it obey even the most silly command
And to be seen and not heard
I was finally free, but was freedom like this?
To be sleeping in the bushes next to a parking garage
Or inside of an abandoned bus with all sorts of garbage
Or jumping from empty motel rooms night after night
It might have been dangerous for most
For me it was free
It was free because I ran
I ran from all things linking me to who I was
Who I was going to be
And who I was going to be when I died
All I know is when I ran
I became free
I didn’t know where I was
I didn’t even know who I was now
I just left it all behind
A new me, a new place, a new time
It seemed so futuristic yet presently
Like a long lost friend, a fresh breath
I felt redemption
Like a caged bird trapped by a mean owner
Whom would torment its animal
To say what it wants it to say
To make it obey even the most silly command
And to be seen and not heard
I was finally free, but was freedom like this?
To be sleeping in the bushes next to a parking garage
Or inside of an abandoned bus with all sorts of garbage
Or jumping from empty motel rooms night after night
It might have been dangerous for most
For me it was free
It was free because I ran
I ran from all things linking me to who I was
Who I was going to be
And who I was going to be when I died
All I know is when I ran
I became free
