Cheers of Silence
I am a knight in this sunlight
There are no hero's welcome
no chants and songs of glory
no parades of homecoming
but the loud cheers of silence
all the song writers are dead
the singers with the flute, drum and lyre
are gone
no one calling your name out loud
the name caller forgotten
the glory all departed
but the loud cheers of silence
Aye! Where is my battle standard?
Where is my horse to ride triumphantly?
Where my shield with is scrapes and dents
from hundreds of battles?
Or my sword that is stained red?
My armor rusts as my old bones rot
victory this day cannot come
from the cheers of silence
as I put my pen down I say
this is it, the end, and the cheers of silence
There are no hero's welcome
no chants and songs of glory
no parades of homecoming
but the loud cheers of silence
all the song writers are dead
the singers with the flute, drum and lyre
are gone
no one calling your name out loud
the name caller forgotten
the glory all departed
but the loud cheers of silence
Aye! Where is my battle standard?
Where is my horse to ride triumphantly?
Where my shield with is scrapes and dents
from hundreds of battles?
Or my sword that is stained red?
My armor rusts as my old bones rot
victory this day cannot come
from the cheers of silence
as I put my pen down I say
this is it, the end, and the cheers of silence
