The Spider Bites
I awake during darkest night
thinking of him, again, again
His voice vibrates like a song
in my mind
Nerve endings spasm, drunk on the memory of
kisses never known
I feel a spider working inside me,
lacing love notes across my heart, and I
open up, relish the bittersweet bite
Venom soaks through my veins
Eyes glaze with discontent, and
yearning, to touch, just to touch him
One so cynical as I, however
understands the webs the spider weaves
are full of falsehoods
Right though they are in their feeling,
it’s a river that flows but one way
Every night is the same now
Waking at due dawn,
ill with the thought of his thinking. But
lost, I am, in a field of
something like love, where
his hair smells sweet, his
eyes sparkle with energy, and
rightly, he is all mine
thinking of him, again, again
His voice vibrates like a song
in my mind
Nerve endings spasm, drunk on the memory of
kisses never known
I feel a spider working inside me,
lacing love notes across my heart, and I
open up, relish the bittersweet bite
Venom soaks through my veins
Eyes glaze with discontent, and
yearning, to touch, just to touch him
One so cynical as I, however
understands the webs the spider weaves
are full of falsehoods
Right though they are in their feeling,
it’s a river that flows but one way
Every night is the same now
Waking at due dawn,
ill with the thought of his thinking. But
lost, I am, in a field of
something like love, where
his hair smells sweet, his
eyes sparkle with energy, and
rightly, he is all mine
