While i do not suffer from arachnophobia,this piece made me think of Stephen King's, "IT", which actually caused me look at the creepy carnivores from an entirely different perspective....like your 'absent' spider.
Sometimes, we all feel as the fly trapped in the web of life...(but a willing one??) (LOL!--with sad, bitter-sweet tone) Clever!
