"The Pale Bearded Man"
Centuries ago, the pale man came,
In the name of his lord
and for glory and fame,
To these unmarked lands
In his massive ship.
We were naive, for we did not stand
Up against the pale bearded man.
Curiosity struck us deep,
So we lent our helping hands.
We gazed in awe at the pale man's tools
While he sat, stared, and thought
"Look at these fools!"
As we sat, stared, and wondered
About the pale bearded man
Little did we know he devised a cruel plan
He took my mother, my father,
And all kin alike,
In one massive strike.
My mother, my father,
And all kin alike,
Bravely fought back with all of their might
But the pale bearded man
Neither trembled nor wavered,
For my kin, there would be no savior.
The pale bearded man,
With a sly grin on his face
Knew he had control of our race.
Bloodied and beaten,
We angrily bowed,
As the pale bearded man stood tall and proud.
He enslaved my kind
By controlling their minds,
And all I could do
Was helplessly stand by.
But for the sake of my kin,
I would not give in.
As time ticked away,
My kin have all passed.
Through torture and disease
My kin would not last.
And the pale bearded man,
Now old and weak,
Has his last laugh,
Though he cannot speak,
As the colors of life
Leave his pale cheeks.
Now I stand here alone
Barely skin and bone.
My time is coming,
This much I know.
But I have planted seeds of hope
And I will not see them grow.
For I planted these seeds
For the children to come
And when these children
Glance upon this beautiful tree,
They will witness all the treachery
Their people have faced.
They will stand up
And they will stand tall.
They will not waver.
They will not fall.
And now I sit,
With my time running out.
With a smile on my face
And not a single shred of doubt
That the children to come
Will succeed in their plan
To put an end to the wrath
Of the pale bearded man.
In the name of his lord
and for glory and fame,
To these unmarked lands
In his massive ship.
We were naive, for we did not stand
Up against the pale bearded man.
