Human

It's funny how quickly we forget the little things
The ones that were joyous and merry, with people who were once such a big part of your life, but now are just a memory for no specific reason whatsoever
Then the dark moments, the ones that have you sitting on the bathroom floor
Tears streaming down your face and your chest sore with the erratic beating of your heartbeat
Well, those moments seem to take up the most room in your mind
Perhaps I'm being over dramatic, or just simply depressing
That's besides the point
You can't scream at someone just because they apologize for not knowing something
At her job none the less, while a customer is within range to hear it, then once the said assistant manager is off somewhere the customer asks if the girl is alright
"I'm fine, it's okay really." The girl says choking back tears, her face hot and red
Then the customers wife comes and asks the same thing concerned, both people are kind and mean well the girl knows, but it'll just cause trouble
They confront the assistant manager
"Fuck fuck fuck." The girl mutters to herself, tears spilling over
She doesn't want to be so sensitive, to let it get to her so easily, she's supposed to be strong
The girl hides in the aisles cleaning and straightening since it's close to closing the store
The assistant manager confronts her again once the doors are locked
The girl knows it's nothing personal, but that doesn't stop her from feeling so horrid inside
The assistant manager spouts how she girl should know more
How she's going to lose her job
Get fired
Needs to grow a backbone
Needs to step up
The girl just wants to run, her job feels like it's growing toxic
She can't trust her co workers, they have too many faces
The manager dislikes her and wants her gone
"I'm sorry." The girl says eyes glued to the floor
She doesn't know what else to say
She's only human
Messes up occasionally, makes mistakes
Isn't good enough to some
She's not a robot, she can't flip a switch to become the ideal sales woman
She'll never be perfect, perfection is overrated and frankly, boring
She's just a little human. Willing to try, given the opportunity
Just do not become vicious and cruel, for she is only human after all.
