Eyes Like Cathedral Glass

Shapes and colors run together
Diamonds and stars seem so familiar
Stare for hours
Stare for moments
They are never the same
Sometimes love, sometimes pain
Reflected in spirals of tears
Weaves of rain
I could lie beneath the Cathedral Glass
And stare for hours counting blades of grass
Green and brown, reflecting earth
Hint at blue, reflecting sky
Let me reach out but never touch
Let me hold but never feel
Sometimes so far away
But always so real
Shapes and colors run together
Diamonds and stars seem so familiar
Stare for hours
Stare for moments
Let me just get lost in all that I see
And close my eyes at the memory
All that I have seen
I could lie beneath the Cathedral Glass
And stare for hours without exodus
I see so much, do you see so little?
I get so lost, do you know
And then I’m standing in a puddle
My soul has melted from inside me
And pulled itself out for you to see
Just like what I see
In your eyes like Cathedral Glass
