Strange dreams
Did you ever get to that point in your life
where there should be a screeching halt
and then run for twenty seven more miles?
You don't even realize
how tired you are
until you're passed out
in the side of a ditch
with some greasy truck driver
standing over you asking
if you need a ride
home.
The scariest part isn't even the thought
crossing your mind that you may have died
and this is hell,
It's the fact that when he asked you for directions
home
you stared blankly into the sky
and thought
the stars are as likely my
home
as any place I've been.
There is no where for you to take me
where there should be a screeching halt
and then run for twenty seven more miles?
You don't even realize
how tired you are
until you're passed out
in the side of a ditch
with some greasy truck driver
standing over you asking
if you need a ride
home.
The scariest part isn't even the thought
crossing your mind that you may have died
and this is hell,
It's the fact that when he asked you for directions
home
you stared blankly into the sky
and thought
the stars are as likely my
home
as any place I've been.
There is no where for you to take me
