Learning To Love

Love is wanting to wake up
early in the morning and make her
breakfast in bed,
it's opening the door for her
and pulling out the chair
for her to sit at the diner table.

It's not being afraid
to make mistakes,
to care so deeply
that the only thing that matters
is one another's health and safety.

Love is feeling her
happiness and pain,
sharing her thoughts,
and being her heartbeat
when she feels weak.

It's about making decisions
on your own that you hope
will make her smile,
that you truely feel
will brighten her day.

Sometimes though,
she will want
things from you that you don't
care to do;
grant her those wishes and she will
only love you more.

Remember that she has the ability
to see you
for who you really are
and that it's hard for her
to trust in love
when she's never learned
how to love
herself.
