Bright Flecks of Moon

The moon shines bright flecks
The loud snores of silence rise from the streets
Drowning out the steps of solitary feet
Directionless traveler
A specter to the world
Lamp lights shine upon concrete unfurled
Thoughts grow unbearable
Shadows dance and yell
Granite blocks crack
Cement melts away
Light flickers under foot
Flames reach up
Grabbing at his wrists
He struggles first
But the flames still persist
He gives out a final yell
As he's pulled away at last
The concrete reforms
As though all had passed

The silence returns
All back so soon
The streets only show
The bright flecks of the moon.
