I pity men

I pity men
And their dangling meat-and-two-veg appendages
That they mistake for personalities

I pity men
And their ridiculous bro-love worship
Of sporting heroes they wish they were
But aren’t
And never will be
As long as the couch and alcohol and tv
Are the drug of choice

I pity men
Who get to 40 and realize
Their status symbols are fools gold
And are acquired only through money
Which is attained, for most
By being slaves
To the working week

I pity men
Who place great store
In the idea of women as whores
When it is we who always truly understood
the transaction
As business
And let them think it was love
Because it kept the children fed

I pity men
Whose brains are damaged in the womb
By a surge of testosterone
To help them to be good at throwing sticks at things
And all the good that brings
While I/We/She keep ourselves intact
With everything they lack
