the ratification debates
when our country first began
there were two groups that argued
bout how our country ran
one side argued for a government
central and fairly strong
while the other side wanted state governments
but are either of them wrong
the first side were the federalists
led by Hamilton, Mason and Jay
the second were the antifeds
with Mason and Henry to save the day
the government held some meetings
to try to ratify
the revised constitution
to keep everyone satisfied
five states voted quickly
but they needed a few more
Massachusetts took some haggling
but soon they no longer needed four
with all eyes in Virginia
some started to fear
that if they didn't ratify
it might all disappear
but thanks to small Rhode Island
the last of the nine states
there was no longer a need
for all of these debates
