Swim Against the Waves

They walk in both worlds of the past and tomorrow,
He weighs heavy as the tides of life ebb and flow.

Time goes by and the line between them begins to blur,
He withdraws back to reality but still longs for her.

The waves carry him far away in his mind,
Drifting apart from the serenity he leaves behind.

She seeks higher ground above the fog and the mist,
Hoping he will follow and break free from the emptiness.

She will always hold on with stead fast strength,
But he's slipping, she feels it in a place she's not sure.
Where it feels as he is closing the door.

Does he not realize what is right here?
Or is his fated vision blinded by his fear?

We all try to bury overwhelming emotion,
Back beneath the waves of life's turbid ocean.
