Good-Bye
I let you in
held you close
wanted even more
though you didn't know.
I'm plagued by fear
I'll never find *him*
the one guy it's clear
is better than them
the guy who'll love me
with no regrets
who will stay with me
and show me respect.
He'll hold me
let me cry.
He will not cheat.
He will not lie.
I thought it was you
but I was wrong
you were missing the true
in true love.
you were so easy to love
after a while
but you weren't even half
what I thought you were.
You had me fooled
for so long.
I wrote you a poem
and kept us strong.
I dealt with the kinks
caused by girls
who gave you winks
and made me want to hurl.
I was never jealous
but you were mine
though I did get nervous
some of the time.
I loved your attention
and your little snipes
even when you mentioned
things that made me gripe.
Our stupid conversations
and goofy arguments
mean nothing in this situation
where nothing should've been.
WE had it so good
before summer came
I never knew it would
bring this continuous rain.
If only it could be different
and my promise could be kept.
I wouldn't call it quits
if we both never left.
Never see each other
and still be a couple...
what was I thinking?
It only brought trouble.
Now it's time
to go back to school.
To say goodbye
and find someone new.
I'll stay by myself
til I find another *him*
til I find someone else
who may actually win.
Win the title 'Mr. Right'
though I doubt
it'll happen any time
soon. Though I'll miss you
I must be real
and say goodbye to you
to understand how I really feel.
If we are meant to be
we will find each other.
We'll be like camouflage and glitter...
working perfectly imperfectly together...
held you close
wanted even more
though you didn't know.
