The Last We Met
The last we met I saw your eyes,
Like hollow vessels hypnotized.
I knew something just was not right,
For distant was your sight that night.
I misconstrued your pondering gaze,
For some kind of drug-induced daze.
I left you sleeping in your bed,
I said goodnight and kissed your head.
If I knew leaving's what you yearned,
Much sooner I would have returned.
But I cant stop you now, too late,
You lie now in a different state.
The voice inside me points the blame
At me and I feel so ashamed.
I feel there's much I could have done,
But I did not and so you run.
You run to find your Hideaway,
From life that no longer sustains.
Sometimes I see you walking by,
But it's just tricks played on my eyes.
Still, I pretend its you and smile,
Although, I know the truth is much more vile.
You wont return any time soon,
And I know I cant follow you.
Surely you found Heavens Peace,
But Fire's what's in store for me.
So here I stay, trying to change,
To earn my way to Heavens Range.
And one day, when Death finds my door,
I'll find you there on Heavens shore.
Like hollow vessels hypnotized.
I knew something just was not right,
For distant was your sight that night.
I misconstrued your pondering gaze,
For some kind of drug-induced daze.
I left you sleeping in your bed,
I said goodnight and kissed your head.
If I knew leaving's what you yearned,
Much sooner I would have returned.
But I cant stop you now, too late,
You lie now in a different state.
