The Journey to Sovereignty
Walking on the twisted path between the trees, I stumbled in the darkness
Down on my soil covered knees, I looked up to see again the petrifying glow of your eyes
Aided by the moon’s sorrowful light, I was able to see your silhouette
Your look penetrated austerely, allowing me to again view the slow process of my own demise
Pleading to break free from your vindictive grasp
So desperately, I wish to be forsaken, for you have secured me for so long
Wearing the collar of shame and guided by the leash of detriment
I am bound to do your will, though I yearn in my life for sovereignty to belong
Enlightenment precipitously flooded the plains of my mind
Giving me the strength I needed to leave you and evade the further pain I would have received
I have awaken to realize my route and it does not lie with you
Our spirits are not one, for our paths are no longer interweaved
Removing the chain that you leashed me with so long ago
I am following not the beaten trail that you monitor, but crafting a new one that you will never travel
Relieving myself of the collar you adorned on me when I was blind
I want it to be forever gone; to appear as if you were never present and that this was not my battle
To reach my destination, I have to destroy what prevents my progression
I have to break the hold this demon has on me
You are the foul creature that warms a way in with tender kindness, but kills with no remorse
I have to obliterate you, so I will never be in the shadows again; so I can see
I know this needs a few things done to it, so I will revise it later when I have time.
