I know I shouldn't care
But I still have to wonder...
Are you sleeping tonight?
Will the nightmares come?
Unrelenting, unwanted
without me there to defend you
Do you look as peaceful alone
as you did in my arms?
Do you wake and linger in bed
savoring the memories of us?
Or do you rise to shower off the
Past?
I know you don't care
But I can't sleep
I see you in my mind
eyes closed,eyes open
You're still there
A ghost of my past
Shadow of my future
And the bane of my
Existence today.
