Somewhere

In a parallel universe,
Somewhere,
The dream I just had,
Was a reality.
You told me you
Couldn't stop loving me,
You'd be with me,
But you think you'd hurt  me
Anyway.
Somewhere,
In some parallel universe,
You went to walk away from me.
Yet, somewhere,
I grabbed you,
Pulled you back,
Refused to ever let you go,
Somewhere, in that parallel universe,
In any one of the parallel universes,
Hundreds of which
Include you,
Me.
Us.
Maybe in one of them,
I get bored of you.
I discard you like a cigarette end,
The empty bottle.
Maybe, in one,
We fizzle out
After years of intensity,
Years of burning, yearning,
But we don't learn,
We fizzle out.
Maybe in one,
We grow old together,
We stay faithful, forever,
She never took my place,
She never existed,
He never tugged at my heartstrings.

Somewhere,
In some parallel universe,
I'm not waking up miserable,
Because somewhere,
In some parallel universe,
I'm waking up from a dream about you,
Beside you.
