I will always burn for you
candle light
I held it so close
afraid it would go out
afraid to let it burn me
held far enough away
to satisfy both
but close enough
to warm me
when the wind blew it near
I observed its flicker
mesmerized
but too strong a wind
might blow it out
so I sheltered it once more
and then while I wasn’t looking
realized
it had been snuffed
and I wasn't allowed
to re-light it

Read the title, then read the first line... and I said WOW. Nice one, caught me off guard the first line. I love the contrast you used here,

After reading the whole piece, I just thought how this piece resembles man's life. he clues are there, and the last few lines made my theory harder...

and I wasn't allowed
to re-light it"
I mean, nice piece right here. I'm keeping myself a copy in my reading list.
