Both I and the Past are Gone

You voice that you miss me,
That I'm still in your heart.
That you love me still,
Never knew you to be a liar.

Till the fateful days
When we'd be torn apart.
Can't help if when I'm in love,
I'm ready to give it all without regard.

For my own health.
But I certainly leaned better.

And when you do speak to me
I know you only want for me,
To make you feel good.

You wish for my loving words,
For something that'll never return,
But it's not happening honey.

As though I'd really stay
For you to fall back on.
Not when I've taken so long
ripping cupids rusted arrow out.

Rusted with unnecessary silence,
And the cold of a deep winter.
I'm still recovering from it,
A nasty feel, but I have learned.

To just leave it alone.
Never thought it'd be you,
Not me, to succumb
to memories but here's the truth.

There was a bright moment that we shared,
One perfect moment but that is all.
So don't come searching for the past when,
You know me and the past are long gone.
