Forbidden Fruit

(written with JohnFeddeler)

It is written upon
these invisible sands:
What you see
you must not touch.

Spelled out by
sultry breathing hearts:
What you want
you can not have.

And when the beautiful apple
was plucked from its leafy nest,
Adam did not realize the
magnitude of what would come to be.

A chemical infused biological attraction:
The one desire to physically consummate,
to connect as one
to quench the burning fire.

we might rent a treehouse
in this renovated garden
a bleak and humble paradise
the gods withhold their pardon

spirit for spirit, we exchange
and heart for heart
we vow to live entwined
or die apart
