Him and I~
Under the the bright night sky
moonbeans touch my flesh
your lips embrace my mind
holding you touching me
hands trace the contours
of my soft skin
Stealing moments feeling
pleasure so lustrous no
place greater than in his
arms even though he is
not mine and I'm not his
I'm wanted for something
I can give to him as he is
wanted for the same
His caress on my neck and
his secrets whispered in my
ears, content in our union
it's just him and I
moonbeans touch my flesh
your lips embrace my mind
holding you touching me
hands trace the contours
of my soft skin
Stealing moments feeling
pleasure so lustrous no
place greater than in his
arms even though he is
not mine and I'm not his
I'm wanted for something
I can give to him as he is

What a beautiful message! You evoke some wonderful feelings with these words. Sometimes knowing that someone is thinking of you is as comforting as if you were in their embrace.

The conscious mixing of subject and object case pronouns is a way of developing a dominance/sub pattern and embroiling the reader in the fray. Him and I is such a case. Object, he and Subject/Her...this is taking the patriarchy by the hand and tossing it over a cliff.
I'm wanted for something
I can give to him as he is
The cure then, the undoing of the malformation of the cultural bind we are in, is to be seen as you are. Kelly Oliver says we must re-invent the idea of feminism by asking what it means to be human. Instead of seeing each other in an idealized way, a take it as it comes approach is a huge step in that direction. Instead of fetishism we see humans as being who they are, facets of human experience. This poem, I think, places us on that map.
content in our union
it's just him and I
To deconstruct the truncation:
He is just himself, and I am just who I am, and this gives us a union (versus an intersection) which is more realistic and tenable.
In this way the object/subject paradigm is destroyed and the pleasure is in being more together than apart, real partnership.
