The Guest

Dark and secret place
not known to all
shunned by some,
those who are afraid
found by those
who travel far,
stumbling as they go.
Dark mysterious place
forebidden, magic valleys
seek and find, enter
seek a welcome not squandered
on the passer-by.
Take with caution,
the hostess reassured
her thresh-hold secure.
The guest, gratitude his gift,
gently treads the velvet space
asks his hostess, may he stay
one short moment to pay respect.
