...And the thought fades away
…And the thought fades away
Like a wisp of smoke, fleeing its prison, seeking new horizons
Like a bird searching for homes among the burned and torn cities
Like a ghost in a church, receiving its blessing, crying tears of joy
Like a pause in a benediction, the lights dim, breaths are held
…And the thought fades away
Like a tear streaking down a weary face, escaping confinement of sorrow and regret
Like a trickle of blood pouring from a wound, sad to leave but pleased to be free
Like a preacher in the midst of wolves, the mist descends and the ground ignites
Like a sunset, faded beneath distant shores, sailors stare, the hourglass pauses
…And the thought fades away
Like a moment of glory, taken in peace and forgotten in time
Like a foolish remnant of honor, taken from a time, into a chasm where lions fear to tread
Like a droplet of water, forsaken in the desert, left to the mercy of the vultures
Like a stab in the dark, cries are heard but never seen, sunrise is ushered in to slowly redeem

Like a trickle of blood pouring from a wound, sad to leave but pleased to be free
