Seeking An Open Invitation
So how do I get an invitation
should I stand on my head until my ears turn red
will I always be looking in
some other wooing you instead?
I won't promise you the world
but my energy I can provide
enjoy what you will of my body
like the current brings in the ocean's tide
My command of language isn't fluid
Shakespeare doesn't flow easily off my tongue
I can't even remember my own rhymes
no smart non sequiturs will be flung
But I can assure devotion
to the glow of an unforgettable fire
that is given oxygen with your affinity
in bodies' unison it will only go higher
should I stand on my head until my ears turn red
will I always be looking in
some other wooing you instead?
I won't promise you the world
but my energy I can provide
enjoy what you will of my body
like the current brings in the ocean's tide
My command of language isn't fluid
Shakespeare doesn't flow easily off my tongue
I can't even remember my own rhymes
no smart non sequiturs will be flung
But I can assure devotion
to the glow of an unforgettable fire
that is given oxygen with your affinity
in bodies' unison it will only go higher

Thanks. That is what happens when a song title gets stuck in my brain. I can't do anything original! (laugh)

Jazz
The invitation is wrapped in a beautiful white envelope lined with silver and says: From reading your poems and chatting with you..
we know how that you are worth an open invitation in a closed envelope....Nice poem
as usual
Peace

I really enjoyed that and a promise of non sequiturs from a legal expert is surreal. Great overall feeling of forethought and detail.

Surreal indeed. I am dumbstuck by non sequiturs from my best friend's daughter and she isn't even 10 years old!

I find your assessment intriguing. I would think that promise is only what anyone should be given in a romantic relationship.
Thanks for the kind words.

Thanks; didn't have much contact with anyone in those professions whose honesty is typically questioned on the day I wrote this, so their behavior didn't rub off!
