Clishés

Once upon a time
There was a doll.
It was a very beautiful doll
With fair skin
And soft, pale lips.
Her eyelashes was like laces
And her hair was like the burning fire.
She had eyes like steel and oceans and grass-filled fields.
Long legs
Lean body
Painted nails
And crystal tears.
'Cause you see
The doll was crying.
She thought she was hideous.
Horrifying
Disgusted with herself.
Hated how she couldn't move
Because of the strings
Tying her
To the ceiling.
That she had a painted on smile
That she could not remove.
That her eyelashes was bashing
Even though the had no-one to dash.
And as the week went by
Her nails lost their paint
Her tears dried up
And her hearts pounding died out.

But then
From a place far, far away
A prince came along.
With silky blond hair
and grey, georgeous eyes.
He was tall and Handsome.
A walking cliché
and god
How she hated clishés.
He ran to her
Lifted up his sword
and cut off her strings.
She looked at him
Still smilling and bashing and flirting and lurring
And not meaning to do any of it.
He lifted her up in his arms
Held her close
And whispered in her ear:
"I will take care of you, from now on."
And she shivered
'Cause to love her was to drown
She would let him down
But he stopped her from shaking
Told her she was his dream
And from the first time
She smiled and dashed and flirted because she wanted too.
He promised they would live happily ever after
And she realised
That maybe
Just maybe
She didn't hate clishés after all.
