Highball elephant style
9 1/2 weeks
not so long to
silence the trains
that roared in passing
twixt loins and mind
laden with freight
southbound longing
northbound lust
Mars lights dancing
whistles screaming
thunderous greetings
notch eight floating
the daily sliding meet
that filled and thrilled
my thumping scarlet tunnel
alas
only gone
sixty seven nights -
the tracks are quiet
the tunnel is dark -
last trick
unlonely
I sleep

'my thumping scarlet tunnel' that line is so intense, it conjures up instantly so many images and sounds and colours. There's places where it plunges into great want and need, like a black tunnel suddenly opening up and hungry.
