Falling Through The Cracks
As I fell back inside, I remembered what it was like
When darkness was my sun, And you were content
When did things change, When did it all become too much
Did I ignore you for the last time, Did I hurt you too many times
You were my compass, When I could not find my way home
You were my light, When I found myself broken and alone
You were my strength and my breath and my heart
Please find your way back to me, I have lost my way again
As I fell back inside, I remembered what it was like
When trust was as gray as the sky, And you left
Where was the line that I crossed, I find myself blind
Did I drop your heart for the last time, Did I deceive you too many times
As the scars and impulses pump anger, And the hunger feels unbearable
As the light dims and lungs collapse, And the thirst feels insatiable
I think back to the months you would sit on my couch, Holding my broken body
And telling me there’s always tomorrow, I feel as if yesterday was my last chance
