Unshared decision
Praise for the way, you
were in the long moment.
Eight years steady, then
a two year cliff drop. Careful
and aware of my father's
every movement. Unshared decision
made without comprehension.
We are a family, mom, two
pieces don't make a unit.
As far as hiding the ill-
perceived notions of what's best
is best, what's meant
to be will be. Don't
disrespect. Tell me
the truth. Now give
me my ballot because
I deserve to vote. As far as
your great big schemes
and lack of attention,
it's like sending the kids
to bed when you want
to watch late night t.v.,
like spelling out words, when
you know the grasp of their
intellect
is still only at simple syllables.
Who is that said,
"Everything happens for a reason?"
There's no definitive
reasoning behind racism,
prejudice, bigotry, selfishness
and
certainly not for premature deaths.
So, just think for a
second, if
what's meant to be, well
isn't. People in that moment
don't want to hear
that there is a grandeur
reason
for their greatest fears.
