POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
A primal poet at best. I type thoughts, moods, dreams and/or images that I have regardless of structure. I am by no means the best. And if the best is what you expect, then I expect you to look elsewhere for quality.
a field and nothing more
sparsely placed flowers and wreaths
on a field where the deceased lie in peace
you may know someone there if I said where
otherwise you or I really wouldn't care
there's no secret to be shared from them
only in that roots and stems shall sprawl
against a facade of what houses the odd end
of our then existences
eventually
we'll be rendered bones in vessels,
ashes in vases,
nestled in satin, encased in marble,
blessed and buried in a hurry
and, in time, be just a field
and nothing more
where there is more to be found
than...

flickering lights (in avalon)
it was a rainy saturday.
off and on, on and off again.
it was decided to stop and pay
our respects again.
the sun was buried in the clouds
much like the dead
beneath these four wheels.
flags and flowers that were left
have been drenched
in this dour hour of remembrance.
passenger side door blocked my view
of the stone.
I was told two small white flowers
had grown upon the scar
behind it.
I remained in the car
and didn't really seem to mind it
as my mind was regrettably
elsewhere. ...

Eve, Day, after
every Christmas Eve
I'll find my black long-sleeved shirt
with thumbholes cut at the ends
paint my fingernails black
and act like everything I am is wrong
every Christmas Day
I'll think of rainclouds and not the sun
see only blackness where colours run wild
on trees and boxes and along the gutters
and act like everything about it is wrong
after every Christmas Day
I'll think of something sallow, frothing, still
fill my lungs with what life has left behind
throw another silver tree away
and act like I shouldn't celebrate the day...

marble
one round
one square
one small
one large
one cheap
one not
both bought
same day
both white
with streaks
like cream in
coffee
one in a box
in my room
one distant
and inhumed
both memory
of one day
one death
both marble
as one rolls
one rests

indiscernible
you've been to the other side
one november night
and you've had nothing to hide
with your silent tongue
mouthing things we couldn't bring
ourselves to understand
or interpret
wondering still what they were
wondering what you meant
after the words went
wondering if we've let you down
somehow
and I hope you realize from
wherever you are now
that we tried our best
you've seen the other side
on one late-autumn day
and you've had nothing to hide

unrecognizable
to see someone you love
turn into someone you barely recognize
leaves you at your wit's end
the ordeal takes its toll
to see someone you love
turn into something you don't recognize
means you can no longer pretend
that things will go back to normal
these are the times now
when the past seemed so pleasant
and the future looks to be foul
you can close your eyes all you want
driving down this narrow road
but you'll only be getting yourself killed
and interred in the cemetery up the hill
feeling like you're part...

shuffle shuffle
shuffle shuffle
side to side
past the swings
past the slides
look on ahead
march in single file
straighten that stance
deflate that smile
shuffle shuffle
hither to thither
past caves stripped
of their golden glitter
the maidens are safe
from dragons now dead
recall quite fondly
of crusades you once led
shuffle shuffle
floor to floor
here's where you
get off the elevator
tighten that tie
adjust that collar
another long day
another dollar
shuffle shuffle
at a slowed pace
you...

tower of the dead
it has happened
I feel it
they are out there
I know it
and although I've not seen them
ran from or succumbed to them
they are out there
I feel it
this tower
stands tall after the midnight hour
is it shelter?
it has what we need for now
like food and power
ammunition
but for how long?
the many halls will soon darken
the shadows terrorize
and the walls start making noise
it's more than just tricks
to the ears and eyes
we're not just simply paranoid
the threat is real
I feel it
and our fate......

Southbound
Southbound. Straight down.
Into the earth from the sky.
Into myself for the millionth time.
To where it all began.
Southbound. Straight down.
Onto the earth from the sky.
Onto myself for the umpteenth time.
Upon which it all ends.
I've lost count of the holocausts
that I've caused.
The seething sutures and life
lost to ages of frost and dirt.
(It's the bones I keep finding)
I've lost count of the detritis
that find its way to my surface.
The doomsday rocks
that have fallen
and clocks that I keep rewinding....

nowhere motel
this is where you'll sleep
tonight
at the height of exhaustion
and thirst
where there is vacancy
day and night
where it's too comfortable
to be considered a curse
one can say it is dirt cheap
and they'd be right
wallet-wise, it is
but spiritually steep
despite the amenities
it both promises and provides
to hide its sole purpose
casting lures into the sands
a bright, yet well hidden, jewel
on which weary, wandering eyes land
to which your soul is bound
upon being found and remains to be
as long as there are those...

F5 swathe
the battles were lost and so was the war.
enough of the what-ifs and what-fors.
count your scars and compile the shards
for victory never was really in the cards."
stressed out
pissed off
cuss out
kiss off
cuffs on
unlocked
thrown down
gun cocked
horns down
hoof stomp
go to town
in china shops
smashed glass
battered walls
can't stop
can't stall
call it off
cool it off
calm it down
look behind
eff-five swathe
look around
at your doing
look on
it was...
enough of the what-ifs and what-fors.
count your scars and compile the shards
for victory never was really in the cards."

weed-killer
It could've been
my yin to your yang
or your yin to my yang
two sides of a coin
name upon name
but it never happened.
it wasn't entirely
between raven and dove
black beside white
just grey upon gray
two lost in love
and always will be.
I wish I can say I still loved you
but I'm merely enamored with
the occasional glance
the remembrance
to ever pledge my heart to you
again
would lead to an abrupt end
of communication
and burgeoning romance
you know this
you've known this ...
