THE TULIP
I found a tulip in my backyard yesterday
I love its spunk and attitude
It's growing there despite being in bad soil
Despite the cold and freeze warnings
Its determination is to be admired
I find it more beautiful in its solidarity
Its as if it's telling me to stand tall
To combat all the turmoil of life
Stay focused from the things happening around me
Find the determination to remain myself
Despite what others may think or say about me
Simply be the person God intended me to be
Being defiant will find inner strength...

Birthday Moon
Driving home from KFC
My Birthday supper devoured
I explain to the kids
Why the moon is extra big tonight
For you see even God is showing significance
Of this particular date
Even causing it to dance in the night sky
Of course it could be the pot holes that I hit every ten feet
Making an optical illusion
And there's no wise men bearing gifts when we reach home
But there are three muggers asking for our gifts
I told them I would call the cops
They said " we are the cops "

Harbor Town
See the light of the lighthouse shine
Shines so bright it lights up the night
Ships come in but they turn around
Not much love in this Harbor Town
There's a girl that lives at the end of town
She waits for her love to return someday
Hoping the ship with her love will come around
She can't find love in this Harbor Town
There's a boy that sails far at sea
Keeping the memories of his girl alive
Knowing that someday his love will be found
He sets his sails towards that Harbor Town
